The ESIL Interest Group on Business and Human Rights

The Interest Group on International Business and Human Rights was created in 2011 to bring together academics, practitioners and ESIL members within an interest in the topic .

As the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights starts to be implemented worldwide and the corporate responsibility to respect human rights penetrates the agenda of the largest multinational companies and small business enterprises alike, the Interest Group seeks to serve as a platform for intellectual exchange and networking. Its main aim is to foster debate and collaboration among its members and to organise research workshops to discuss the fast developing advances with regards to the dynamic between economic activities, actors, the enjoyment and fulfillment of human rights.

We are indebted to the previous members of the Coordinating Committee (Dr. Marta Requejo, that served as a Chair for the Group from its creation until September 2012, Dr. Olga Martin-Ortega, Dr. Freya Baetens, Dr. Sorcha MacLeod and Dr. Damiano de Felice). Since January 2016, the new Board is composed of Dr. Marta Bordignon, Dr. Mara Tignino and Dennis West .

Membership of the Group is open to all the members of ESIL interested in the relationship between business and human rights, from a theoretical or practical perspective. We highly encourage early career researchers and postgraduate research students to join us. We also welcome non-ESIL members to get in touch.

If you would like to join our Group please contact Marta Bordignon at bordignon.hric@gmail.com or Mara Tignino at mara.tignino@unige.ch
